Grand Prairie, TX
In 2015, ASH+LIME began work on the Grand Prairie Downtown Action Plan. The firm collaborated with numerous city staff members, business owners, property owners, and others to create a recommendations report for downtown revitalization. The resulting Action Plan incorporated traffic calming, public space enhancements, urban design, programming, marketing, wayfinding, land use planning, and other elements.
In 2017, the firm was re-hired to guide implementation of the recommendations. ASH+LIME ran or advised on a variety of programs, including strategic public space enhancements; popup retail and restaurant events; coordinated window displays; public art programs; special event management, creation of 50 items of semi-permanent downtown furniture, and enhanced coordination between downtown businesses. ASH+LIME helped to run a popup bar and outdoor space which has become a vibrant bar/restaurant in a downtown which had few high-quality eating and drinking options.
In addition, ASH+LIME advised a group of top city leaders on recommendations for long-term investments in downtown staffing, capital improvements, marketing, development strategy, and public engagement. The panel used this advice to successfully petition City Council for substantial long-term investments in fine-grained, incremental downtown placemaking.
